Moscow. The year 1973. Sergey Narbekov is a first-year student of the Moscow teacher’s training college. He is not a hard-working student, but preferring to amuse himself together with his friends Stepan Molodtsov and Kostya Denisov—to become acquainted with frivolous girls, to operate the car of Kostya’s father, to drink, to listen to a music, and sometimes to smoke a goofy-butt in secret. Sergey shares the dwelling with his mother, the younger brother and the grandfather Pavel Arkadievich Okhotsky, the well-known archaeologist, who tells him about diggings in Khoresm and about the ancient Windy Town lost in sandy area.

Suddenly Sergey falls in love with his course-mate Lyuda Beletskaya, but his inconvenient trials to step up the girl “seriously” cause misunderstandings and quarrels time and again. However Sergey thinks that everything may be settled down—because he is well up with life! But time flies inexorably, youth is slipping away, and world becomes unrecognizable, the world that seemed to be so clear and habitual to young Muscovites.

Starring:

Sergey Narbekov – Alexander Lyapin, a graduate of S.Gerasimov All-Russia Institute of cinematography, the actors’ training department, the course of A.Batalov. His appointment as the actor of the leading part was confirmed after the actor tests longest for Karen Shakhnazarov’s career as a film director. Apart from Sasha, at least 200 young actors from different higher theatre schools of our country pretended to the part of Sergey.

Lyuda Beletskaya – Lidia Milyuzina, a graduate of Shchepkin theatre school, the course of Yu.Solomin and O.Solomina. Since the very beginnig of actor tests the script author Sergey Rokotov insisted upon confirming just Lida’s acting of Lyuda Beletskaya part because of her similarity in appearance with the prototype of Lyuda. However Shakhnazarov gave his consent only when Lida together with her partner Sasha Lyapin coped splendidly with the most difficult scene of the film.

Kostya Denisov – Ivan Kupreenko, a student of the Saint-Petersburg Academy of theatre art, workshop of B.Uvarov.

Stepan Molodtsov – Egor Baranovsky, a student of the Russian Academy of theatre art (the State Institute of theatre art) workshop of S.Golomazov.

Katya – Yanina Kalganova, a student of S.Gerasimov All-Russia Institute of cinematography, workshop of A.Len’kov.
